The World of Tomorrow”, something continually referenced in books, movies, TV and even in everyday conversations. “Backwards glances at a sepia life…” really the world of tomorrow is more about looking back than forwards. This album opens with a future-retro synth-pop feel that utilizes classic analog synths and vocoder in a look back at what was, and with a hopeful eye on what can be.

World of Tomorrow

The beat is tapping code, just waiting to explode with a mirror-ball unfolding in my head.

You can feel it in heart the beat is in my art, it’s the DNA thread. There’s a Disco in my head, it puts me in a trance. My fingers start to tap and my feet want to dance.”

There’s a Disco in My Head

Friday Night”, a loving look back at nights spent in San Francisco in the 80’s: Tower Records, clubs (the I-Beam, the Palms), bars (the End Up), bands (The Units, Voice Farm) and all the misadventure and fun that went with it.  “Dancing in the gutter look at the stars above, finding heartbreak when we were looking for love.”

Friday Nights

The Ballrooms of San Francisco” – The endless shows and bands that have and continue to happen in San Francisco. The clubs and venues: Winterland, The Fillmore, The Kabuki, Bimbo’s, The I-Beam, Slim’s, DNA Lounge, The Mahubay, The Warfield, The (Bill Graham) Civic, Wolfgang’s, The Old Waldorf, The Nightbreak, The Boarding House and The Regency Ballroom. Then there were the bands: The Airplane, Bowie, The Nuns, Soft Cell, ABC, Frankie, Eurythmics, Erasure, Art of Noise, Iggy and the Stooges, Until December, Blondie, Siouxie & the Banshees, Romeo Void, The B-52’s, Sisters of Mercy, Prince, Sylvester, Marianne Faithful, Blancmange, The Sex Pistols, and many, many, many more…

The Ballrooms of San Francisco

Misha (Slit Wrists & Happy Endings)”… a dazzling mystery with a light that burned far too brightly. Beguiling, sexy, bitingly witty, androgynous, temperamental, open-yet-closed, fiercely intelligent, a rent-boy and destined for a tragic ending. “Everyone was mesmerized, whenever you entered a room. Were you a boy or a girl? Everyone would just assume. A toss of your hair, a meaningful stare, suggestions of what could be. If the price was right, you’d stay the night, and make it ecstasy.”

Misha (Slit Wrists & Happy Endings)

Slow Dancing”, a stripped-down, slowed-down instrumental rework of “There’s a Disco in My Head”…

Slow Dancing

Bridges Burnt”, a frank and direct reply to backstabbing manipulators… “strike a match!” Analog synths, kick-ass drums and filters run amok over this tightly sequenced dance track.

Bridges Burnt

Disco (Redux)”… a slightly “Barry White-esque” treatment on the vocal with this remix…

Disco (Redux)

Tomorrow’s World”, and early version of The World of Tomorrow. A bit slower, with a more new-wave earlier synth-pop futurist sound…
